FACSS specializes in finding solutions for healthcare organizations (HCOs). Often these solutions lead to the development of new programs that meet the needs of the industry instead of a single entity. Recently from 2017-2019, FACSS was involved in providing clinical and management support to several outpatient surgical centers. One of the focus areas was evaluating, monitoring, and improving the infection control practices of these organizations. Through that work we recognized that there was a general lack of relevant education and board-certified infection control prevention nurses in the United States. The Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc. (CBIC) is the primary certification entity for registered nurses in the U.S. In a report from 2019 there were only 7,000 board certified CIC professionals in the world with most providing their services within the U.S. and Canada. This meant that free standing outpatient facilities and smaller community-based hospitals are at a distinct disadvantage when it comes to having persons with the right education, experience and board certification for their infection control programs. FACSS is happy to offer solutions for these organizations that range from relevant staff education to creating an infection control program.
What we can offer your HCO
Recently the CBIC has created the Associate Infection Prevention and Control (aIPC) certification. The aIPC certification allows FACSS to offer clients board certified clinical specialists early in the contract period, within the first 90-180 days. Full CIC certification can occur once the eligibility requirements are meant which means your HCO will have the most qualified infection control staff possible.
FACSS would like to offer this as a contracted service to HCOs as a cost-effective alternative to employing their own infection control nurses. Some of the benefits that FACSS can offer an HCO include:.
